Projects of Innovation: Innovation in Projects

Conveners: Stewart Clegg & Tyrone Pitsis, University of Technology, Sydney

In this theme we seek to broaden and build upon the growing interest on innovation in and through projects. We welcome papers that explore the e.g. the following issues:

• The nature and types of innovation through projects
• Project management innovation
• The role of project governance in innovation
• Project strategy, innovation and performance
• Innovation as a project: projects as innovation
• Project dynamics necessary for innovation
• Serendipity and surprises in projects
• The politics of projects enabling and restricting innovation

Of course, the list above is not exhaustive, nor is it mutually exclusive, and we will welcome all papers that seek to contribute to knowledge, understanding, theory and research on project innovations (process and practice innovations of projects) and innovation projects (innovations as outputs or products of the project).
