Business and Management Research and Construction Management
Convener: Graham Winch, University of Manchester
Construction management research has become disconnected from the “mainstream” of the business and management research. This has at least two effects. First, our work tends to be off the pace with respect to theoretical developments and empirical findings in management research more generally. Second, mainstream developments and findings are not scrutinised in the context of construction, one of the world’s most important economic sectors.
This call is therefore for papers that address important themes in construction management by drawing upon mainstream business and management research. Papers may be purely theoretical or, preferably, include empirical research, but they should explicitly challenge or expand upon research that has been published in central management journals within the last 10 years.
Papers will be considered for a forthcoming special issue of Construction Management and Economics.
